Health and Safety regulations governing construction sites state that there is a legal responsibility of any person in control of a construction site to provide suitable, sufficient and readily accessible toilet and washing facilities, so far as reasonably practical. It is recommended that one toilet is provided for every ten people per forty hour week, in order to comply with these regulations.

Before hiring please consider the following advice:
- A level site is strongly recommended
- Allow adequate space for doors to open
- Consider wheel chair access
- Out vehicles must get within 10m to service the unit
- Ensure the unit is not an obstacle
- Extra light may be required if used at night or in hours of darkness
